Increase Ration Density
In today's dairy environment, it's important that we "pack a punch" into each daily ration we feed our cows. But many times we're limited by space. The rumen can only hold so much feed in a 24 hour period. How can we get more nutrients into our cows without loading them up on dry matter?
Molasses Products! A molasses based supplement can increase the nutrient density of your daily ration because liquid feeds are more nutrient dense than dry feeds. For example, one cubic foot of soybean meal (SBM) weighs 38 pounds while one cubic foot of Emerald 33% weighs 80 pounds. The cubic foot of SBM holds 33 pounds of dry matter, 16.7 pounds of protein, and 28 pounds of energy. The same cubic foot of Emerald 33% hold 51 pounds of dry matter, 25.6 pounds of protein, and 36 pounds of energy. By feeding just 3 pounds of a molasses supplement, you can "pack a punch" in the daily diet of your dairy cows: add more nutrients to the same space and add more dry matter without your cows knowing it.
